Being extremely sleepy in my office, I decided to take my break early and take a twenty-minute nap inside the library. When I woke up and left, through my half-awake ears I heard the sound of a choir singing--really loudly. I thought it was a concert. I walked over to where it was and I saw this large crowd.

I was too tired to care what it really was so I started walking back to my office to go back to work. As I'm walking over there, I heard loud screaming, like people were at a concert--except the screaming was angry and not excited. I can't really pinpoint where it was cause all the walls but I eventually saw a group standing near our President's office building. What was it? A protest against the budget cuts in California.

Frankly, there's not much the president of our school can do except protest against the governor. Even if he did, it would take more CSU president's to make the voice even louder. However, this was the loudest and most bold protest I've seen since I've been at SDSU, which has been five years, so I can be sure that this was heard.

Proclaimed the Mambo King

Every time I move to a new place, one of my first experiences is going to the local 7-11 to pick up something and meeting some random person. La Mesa has been no different to me.

Tonight, I was walking out of 7-11 and fumbling with my car keys in my pocket trying to get them out. I finally get them out and I put the key into the slot, turn the key to unlock the door and this guy says "Hey" and I jump and hit my electronic lock button and my car beeps and locks again. Slightly frustrated, I turn to see a man who is very dirty and about middle aged walking towards me asking for any change I might have.

Very tempted to say "I don't have any" and lie my butt off, God convicts me and I give him the 15 cents I have left in my wallet. He thanks me and pounds his chest and says "God bless you." I say "no problem" and I turn to stick my key into my front door keyhole again.

As I'm about to insert the key he interrupts my action and says, in his very broken and virtually incomprehensible speaking, "You know... you look like the Mambo King" (imagine the most drunk guy trying to talk to you--that's how he was talking). I turn completely towards in an attempt to make conversation with him. It could turn into a ministry opportunity so I drag it out for a little bit. I respond to his statement letting him know I have no idea who he is talking about. He stumbles around his words, and himself, and proceeds to sing "A little bit of Monica by side, a little bit of Erica, all night long--you know... that guy." I try not to give sympathy laughs but in the case of my audience, I decided to humor him and chuckle with a big grin on my face. I say "Well, thank yo" and he perceives I may have been insulted (which I wasn't. I was very confused though) and says "It's a good thing." I give him another one of those sympathy laughs cause I'm too confused to really respond any other way and enter my car.

I could have sworn I left El Cajon Blvd...

Padres game and fireworks

I would have posted this a lot sooner had I gotten home sooner on Friday and I wasn't so sleepy. Nevertheless, I went to a Padres game this past Friday. It was my first Padres game and it was fairly fun. I'm glad I went with my friends and not by myself. I don't think I have to tolerance for baseball like I did when I was kid I realized.

It was versus the Cardinals, who they beat 4-0.

We went to the post-game event down closer to the field where players from the Cardinals and the Padres shared their testimonies about how they gave their lives to Jesus and how it's changed them. It was crazy to hear Adrian Gonzalez and Pujols of the Cardinals talk about how they live for Christ. It was definitely cool to hear.

Unfortunately, the firework show I recorded on my phone is not coming off on to my computer but I'll have to try it later. It was a good show though.

Excited for NFS: Shift

I'm really excited for NFS: Shift. I haven't been this excited about an NFS game since Most Wanted which was way better than I expected.

It probably has to do with all the promotions for it and the sweet trailers they have been putting out but nevertheless, as the launch date approaches, I get more and more excited.

I'm hoping it lives up to the hype cause I can see this game being a game I play for a long time.

Major Upgrades

My closes is a place that is full of clothes but not full of style. I have a plethora of Dickies, random t-shirts with all the funny sayings no them and a few nice jeans and polos. I'm terrible at matching colors (outside of the clearly obvious combos) and making different combinations with my clothes. In a way, I should be. I practice drums in my free time and play video games when I can. That or spend a lot of time trying to grab an outfit? More than likely I will go with video games but to be real with myself, I do need to upgrade the wardrobe.

My sister and I went out and got an outfit for me for my birthday so that really helps. I didn't know what looked good on me and it was fairly difficult to step out of my comfort zone so I got to the point where I just started pulling stuff off the racks that I don't have in my closet. Pretty much win that I did that. That's how I got my outfit.

Why am I telling you this? Because gamers can be classy and look good too! Darn straight I am a handsome gamer. Join me in my endeavor!

I checked my email and this is one of the random spam emails I got:
